چکیده

Amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films possess special chemical and physical properties such as high chemical inertness, diamond-like properties, and favorable tribological proprieties. The materials usually consist of graphite and diamond microstructures and thus possess properties that lie between the two. Amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films can exist in different kinds of matrices and are usually doped with a large amount of hydrogen. Thus, carbon films can be classified as polymer-like, diamond-like, or graphite-like based on the main binding framework. In order to characterize the structure, either direct bonding characterization methods or the indirect bonding characterization methods are employed. Examples of techniques utilized to identify the chemical bonds and microstructure of amorphous and nanocrystalline carbon films include optical characterization methods such as Raman spectroscopy, Ultra-violet (UV) Raman spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy, e A t r ©

Laser Micro-Raman Spectroscopy of CVD Nanocrystalline Diamond Thin Film

Laser micro-Raman spectroscopy is an ideal tool for assessment and characterization of various types of carbon-based materials. Due to its special optical properties (CrN) coated stainless steel substrates. NCD films have been investigated by laser micro-Raman spectroscopy. The fingerprint of diamond based materials is in the spectral region of 1000-1600 cm-1 in the first order of Raman scatter...

Thickness dependency of field emission in amorphous and nanostructured carbon thin films

Thickness dependency of the field emission of amorphous and nanostructured carbon thin films has been studied. It is found that in amorphous and carbon films with nanometer-sized sp2 clusters, the emission does not depend on the film thickness. This further proves that the emission happens from the surface sp2 sites due to large enhancement of electric field on these sites. However, in the case...

Fast and Non-Catalytic Growth of Transparent & Conductive Graphene-Like Carbon Films on Glass at Low Temperature

This article presents the synthesis and systematic study on graphene-like carbon thin films directly grown on commercial glass by using remote-ECR Plasma Assisted CVD. The fabrication process is extremely rapid and performed on to 2 inch scale dielectric substrate at relatively low temperature (< 550oC) without using metal catalyst. This method avoids damaging and expensive transfer processes o...

Structural and electronic characterization of nanocrystalline diamondlike carbon thin films.

The origin of low threshold field-emission (threshold field 1.25 V/μm) in nanocrystalline diamond-like carbon (nc-DLC) thin films is examined. The introduction of nitrogen and thermal annealing are both observed to change the threshold field and these changes are correlated with changes to the film microstructure. A range of different techniques including micro-Raman and infrared spectroscopy, ...
